    Ashlee L. Thompson, MSEd, CASAC, director of Outpatient Behavioral Health Services at Rome Memorial Hospital, is one of the health care professionals honored at the Genesis Group’s annual Heathcare Recognition Awards ceremony, held May 24 at Hart’s Hill Inn, Whitesboro.

    Frank Conestabile somehow scraped his ankle last fall. Although he did not think much of it at the time, today Frank is thankful for the scrape since it just might be responsible for saving his life.
    Free, drop-in support group meets every Monday in June
    The drop-in support group, “Give it a Whirl” for Wellness, will meet Monday, June 4, from 6-7 p.m. The free group is for anyone coping with health and wellness challenges and made possible through the collaboration of the Center for Family Life and Recovery and Rome Memorial Hospital’s Mohawk Valley Radiation Medicine. “Give it a Whirl” for Wellness is a creative way to socialize, help and be helped by others with similar conditions or circumstances, whether it is quitting smoking for good, overcoming illness or treatments, or facing life changes. More than a support group, it gives Individuals, family and friends an opportunity to come together in a welcoming, comfortable, and inspiring way.
    Pulmonary Rehab staff complete additional training
    The respiratory therapists of Rome Memorial Hospital’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation program recently completed an advanced training program to provide their patients with the most consistent, effective and up to date care. The series of lectures were offered through a joint collaboration of the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC) and the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR).  Completion of the course by the pulmonary rehab team, Lynda Ferris, MS, RRT, CPFT, AE-C, Patricia Parshall, CRT, Patrick Bonin, RRT and Elizabeth Demma, RRT, CPFT, NPS, AE-C, reflects their ongoing commitment to continuing education to meet their patients’ needs.
    More than 400 helped in 10 years of Pulmonary Rehab program
    The Pulmonary Rehabilitation program at Rome Memorial Hospital recently marked 10 years of improving the quality of life for people affected by chronic breathing problems.  Since March 2008, more than 400 patients have completed the program of education, instruction and exercise designed to help them manage their symptoms to be able to return to more of their regular activities.
    06/28/18 Free Blood Pressure Screening
    Stop in at the RMH Retail Pharmacy, located on the ground floor of the hospital, for a free blood pressure check from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  While you are there, have your prescriptions filled.  Most insurance plans are welcome.  Convenient call-in refills at 315-338-7690.  The RMH Retail Pharmacy is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, closed from 2-2:30 p.m. for lunch.

    A free class for Type 2 diabetics and their families from 9-10 a.m.  Meet in the hospital lobby.  Learn to measure blood sugar, tips to protect your feet and eyes, meal planning, exercise and more.  For more information, call 315-338-7143.
    07/16/18 Addiction Family Support Group
    Offered by the hospital's Community Recovery Center, families who are dealing with the problems of addiction can find help and information at this  support group led by a certified alcoholism and substance abuse counselor.
