  • Nutrition important when managing diabetes and preventing hard-to-heal wounds
    According to the American Diabetes Association, an estimated 29.1 million people in the United States are living with diabetes and nearly eight million of those are undiagnosed. For all those living with diabetes, nutrition plays an important role. In recognition of Nutrition Awareness Month, Rome Memorial Hospital and the Regional Center for Wound Care offer these tips to help those with diabetes eat healthy and manage their disease.

    Learn about Advances in Cataract Surgery at March Health Night
    Are you finding it increasingly difficult to see at night? If so, now is the time to venture out to learn about the latest in cataract surgery at Rome Memorial Hospital’s Health Night presentation on Wednesday, March. 8. Eye physician and surgeon Dr. John Costello, Jr., D.O., F.A.O.C.O., will present “Advances in Cataract Surgery” at the Beeches Inn and Conference Center, Turin Road, Rome. The program begins at 5:30 p.m.

    A free class for Type 2 diabetics and their families from 9-10 a.m.  Meet in the hospital lobby.  Learn to measure blood sugar, tips to protect your feet and eyes, meal planning, exercise and more.  For more information, call 338-7143.
    03/14/17 Childbirth Class session begins
    Learn how to help yourself through labor and create a stronger bond between you and your partner.  Classes are Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. for six consecutive weeks.  Participants should sign up at the end of your second or third month of pregnancy.  Cost is $75.  To register, call Sandy Graichen, RN, at 336-5157.
